Victoria
Our inspiration for this decanter came from the Victoria, a Spanish ship commanded by the Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan. Victoria was part of a five ship Spanish expedition with the goal to find a westward route to the Spice Islands. The expedition was a success finding its way to the islands however the success came with huge loses. Victoria was the only ship (of five) that successfully completed the expedition, she returned to Spain with only 18 of the original 237 men. The fallen men included Captain Magellan who died prior to arriving at the Spice Islands. Sebastian Elcano commanded the rest of the expedition, upon returning to Spain, Victoria became the first ship to sail around the world.
